Written by a pioneer in… American fashion design, Ethel Traphagen, who strove to create American fashion independent of the predominant French influences. She opened a fashion school in New York in 1923, one of the first devoted entirely to fashion design. GOOD condition. Moderate staining, soiling and toning to the covers. Small area of glue residue stuck to the upper front cover. Extremities scuffed. Heavy foxing to the first and last few pages. Owner's name on the first endpaper.

How to do fashion illustration and costume design with mostly an 1918 esthetic, with occasional 30s updates. Wonderful illustrations. "This lovely book tells the history of costume design and illustration through text, photos and illustrations. It also discusses the difference between costume desing and costume illustration.
