Houbraken, the author 's foreword contains a full page engraving of the plan of the tabernacle and its courtyard. Important and often-referenced treatise on ancient Jewish rites and symbolism, the tabernacle, the temple, the high priests, the Levites and the services of the old Hebrews, written by the Lutheran pastor Johann Lund. The German edition was published posthumously in 1711 by Lund's son Thomas Lund. It is profusely illustrated with twenty-five full-page copper plate engravings, four of them folding, depicting the tabernacle, the Arc of the Convenant, the altar for sacrifices, sepulchers, the Temple of Solomon, copper cleansing vessels, the high priests and the Levites, the idol Moloch receiving human sacrifices, memorial charms for head and arms, various plans, e.g. the shape and arrangement of the bedsteads at the tabernacle, among others. In addition the work is illustrated with numerous in-text copper engravings showing various essentials used in ceremonies as well as ancient coins and line drawings of architectural details.
