A seminal TCA promotional brochure, published just months after the start of WW II and less than three years after the airline's inaugural flight in September of 1937, still complete with its large color map showing current, proposed and connecting routes. Cover title reads "Canada from the Air / Trans-Canada Air Lines / Canada's National Air Service", publication date of 1940 from printed text on map and date code (6-40) printed at bottom edge of terminal page of brochure. Saddle stapled heavy card wraps, having a French flap at rear cover with a single slit sized for map insertion, 4to size (10 inches tall), pp. [1]-23, [24 - ad], illustrated with multiple decorative headpieces, ten birds-eye view in-text color maps - two being double page, and a separate route map, measuring 24.5 x 30.5 inches wide, with "Lithographed in Canada 5-1940" at lower left corner, verso blank. A commercial objet d'art, created by talented mid-century Ad Men with an eye to the future - and an advanced collection. A scarce and desirable snapshot piece of promotional literature, intimately detailing the nascent airline's routes and services with individual in-flight trip descriptions throughout the text.
