Verlag: Durand & Huguenin SA, Basle [Basel], 1930
Anbieter: Michael Treloar Booksellers ANZAAB/ILAB, Adelaide, SA, Australien
Zustand: Fine. Basle [Basel], Durand & Huguenin SA, [1930s?]. Octavo, a textured card folder, on the rear inside surface of which is mounted a two-panel folding catalogue of 32 dyed fabric samples; mounted on the front inside surface is a bifolium (last leaf blank) giving dying instructions on the first page and specific formulae for the 32 samples on the verso. Corners a little bumped, otherwise a fine copy, with the rubber-stamp of the sole Australasian agent, Norman G. Clark. The business that Norman Clark founded in 1919 is still in existence; following his death in 1951, his sons incorporated it as Norman G. Clark Pty. Ltd. For this reason, together with the disruptions caused by the Second World War and the immediate post-war period, it is highly likely that this trade catalogue dates back to the 1930s. We purchased this item many years ago from the estate of Dr Hedley Ralph Marston; if you don't know about him, consult the Australian Dictionary of Biography without delay.

Zustand: Very Good. Tyseley, Abingdon Works, 1931. Octavo; a pictorial bifolium printed in blue and black; a few creases where folded; an excellent copy. The centrespread confidently asserts that the King Dick is the 'obvious answer to the "housewife's prayer". To do your work quick - you must use a "King Dick" . Install one now - electricity is entirely unnecessary'. It's hard to believe that this glorified carpet sweeper, with its mechanically-driven suction fan, never caught on. This copy is over-printed with the Australian price (a steal at '£5-15-0 Plus Tax'), and has the inkstamp of the local distributor (Hannan Bros Ltd, Flinders Street, Adelaide).

Anbieter: Michael Treloar Booksellers ANZAAB/ILAB, Adelaide, SA, Australien
Erstausgabe
Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. First Edition. Racine, Wisconsin, S.C. Johnson and Son, [1927]. 163 x 90 mm, 20 pages with 7 two-colour illustrations and a full-colour centrefold containing 24 printed samples of Johnson's Wood Dyes. Colour-pictorial wrappers a little finger-marked; a very good copy (internally fine). The details of the Sydney branch of the company (at Queen St, Rosebery) are typed on the rear cover and rubber-stamped on two pages.
They are mounted, 'as issued', in concertina-form on cloth. The spine of the first one, 'The Chartfield School Mystery' by Monica Marsden, is also present. This provides the details of the publisher, and paper residue on its cloth backing suggests it was originally tipped into (say) a representative's portfolio of samples. Titles include 'Felicity's Fortune' by Bessie Marchant; 'Lorrie's First Term' by Norah Mylrea; 'The Fortunes of Philippa' by Angela Brazil; and 'This Time Next Term' and 'Two Thrilling Terms', both by Nancy Breary.
