Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. 2nd Edition. 177, [19] pages : illustrations ; 25 cm ; ISBN 9780918949158, 9780918949165, 0918949157, 0918949165 ; OCLC 23654014 ; LCCN 91013828 ; LOC No PS509.W6 W47 1991 ; Dewey 810.8/03520565/082 ; beige cloth in color pictorial dustjacket ; This enchanting collection of fiction, poetry, and photographs evokes the beauty, humor, and courage of women living in their later years. More than 1.7 million copies have been sold, thanks to its universal message of aging as a natural gift of life. Winner of the American Booksellers Book of the Year Honors Award (1991), and two Benjamin Franklin Awards: for design and content, literature (1988), and for excellence and innovation in marketing, literature (1992), When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple has been applauded for its honest and inspiring approach to the much neglected topic of aging. When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple has created a network of support and encouragement: the sixty-plus men and women whose work is included, the readers who have taken the time to share how the book has touched their lives, and the booksellers who have so graciously recommended it to buyers. Stories and poems such as Warning, Like Mother, Like Daughter, Love at Fifty, Near Places, Far Places, and Dear Paul Newman tell of the endearing moments of joy -- and passion -- to be found in the rich and varied world of midlife and beyond. This award-winning anthology has earned a word-of-mouth popularity because, as the Los Angeles Times said, the time is ripe for such a message. ; Contents: Warning / Jenny Joseph -- Sitty Victory / Vicky Salloum -- Grandma sits down / Rick Kempa -- Aunt Marie at 99 / Tom Benediktsson -- Here, take my words / Karen Brodine -- The trouble was meals / Elizabeth Bennett -- Like mother, like daughter / Susan S. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - AI is everywhere. It's reshaping industries, automating knowledge work, and shifting how professionals create, communicate, and make decisions. But with this rapid transformation comes an invisible threat: the slow erosion of expertise, originality, and independent thinking. The Rules of the AI Road (ROTAR) is the essential survival guide for professionals who refuse to become irrelevant in the age of AI. While most books teach AI literacy or 'how to use prompts,' ROTAR goes deeper-it arms you with the principles, reflexes, and rules you need to harness AI without letting it reshape your thinking.AI won't replace you-but if you don't adapt, you'll become indistinguishable from someone with a chatbot and a few prompts.Inside, you'll discover: - 5 Unbreakable Principles of AI - The fundamental truths about AI's limitations, biases, and influence that most people overlook.- 3 Critical AI Reflexes - Simple, repeatable habits that ensure you challenge AI's responses, uncover missing context, and stay in control.- 5 Rules of the AI Road - A clear framework for using AI as an amplifier-not a replacement-of your thinking, creativity, and expertise.Who is this for ROTAR is for consultants, strategists, marketers, writers, legal and financial professionals, and anyone whose value is based on expertise and judgment. If AI is creeping into your field and you're wondering how to stay ahead, this book gives you the playbook.AI is a tool-but if you're not careful, it will train you to think just like everyone else.Don't get lost in The Collective(TM). Stay in control. Stay relevant. Stay unstoppable. ROTAR shows you how.…

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Very Good dj. First Edition. [very nice copy, light wear to base of spine; jacket lightly soiled, very slight paper loss at spine ends, a few tiny closed tears]. (pen and ink drawings) A one-act trifle about a fellow with the improbable moniker of Wellington Yellowboy, whose trusting and devoted wife thinks he's working every night into the wee hours on editing the 123rd edition of the Encyclopaedia Brittanica -- but who in fact is stepping out on the town, cavorting with various young lovelies at Fancy Balls and the like. Mrs. Yellowboy's long-absent brother suddenly appears, however, and (after a suitable bit of mistaken-identity-type confusion) blows his cover. This previously-unpublished and unperformed piece, evidently found among Gilbert's papers (although the introduction doesn't specifically say so), was deduced from internal evidence to have been written sometime between 1855 and 1870 (in which year Mr. Gilbert was introduced to Mr. Sullivan). It's funny enough, in an arch-Victorian kind of way, but it probably would have benefitted from a few songs. Per the copyright page a "limited number of Copies [were] issued with hand-coloured illustrations; this, alas, is not one of that unknown number of copies, but is fairly scarce in its own right, especially with the illustrated jacket. Illustrated by Townley Searle (illustrator). …
