This system of medicine is as old as Indian history itself and has formed an integral part of the Indian traditions since time immemorial. Reference to plants used as drugs is often found in old literature (Atharvaveda, Charak Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, etc.). In spite of the achievement of allopathic medicine, the Indian systems of medicine knows as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Naturopathy still continue to provide medical care to the majority of the population on account of it being cheaper and with almost no side effects. The present study has been undertaken to compile and collate the scattered information on treating ailments with inhibition by infusion, decoction and tincture with its compounds. The compiled data has been collected through open questionnaires and informal interviews held with Vaidyas, Hakims and elderly village people, who have knowledge of the medicinal use of plants and mostly use them in treating their ailments. The book includes more than 80 plants, which are used for treating various ailments with natural medicines prepared as teas, infusions or decoctions. The plants are enumerated alphabetically by their botanical names, followed by English names, Local names, descriptions, distribution, major chemical composition, use in ailments, ingredients, method of preparation, preparation time of medicine, dose and precaution if any. A glossary of medical terms along with an index of Botanical names, English names and vernacular names. An index to ailments has also been provided. It is hoped that the book would be a handy tool for use by people to cure ailments through plants that are commonly available around them and provide strength to the body organs and immune system at an affordable price with almost no side effects.…

The present work describes 93 common tree species found on the Meerut College Campus (MCC) in Meerut, which are the important components of the MCC campus flora. These species belong to 79 genera and 38 families. The book presents different morphological features of the recorded tree species. The species are arranged in alphabetical order, providing information on their botanical name, family name, local name, botanical description, distribution, origin, habit, habitat, major chemical constituents, uses, propagation, and flowering and fruiting period. The campus flora has high importance to the students and the general public, not only environmentally, economically, industrially, and historically, but also spiritually and medicinally, for it maintains human life through direct and indirect benefits. Most of these species find wide use in areas of the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
