Hardcover. Small 4to. Full leatherette with gilt lettering. 159pp. Numerous full-page color illustrations. Very good. Mild edgewear and hints of text block age toning. A tight and attractive first edition of this bibliographically cryptic self-published survey of the work of this Rockford, Illinois artist (born 1934). An inner flyleaf is inscribed large and bold in brown fineline: "Especially for my good friend Wendell. / Thanks for the many times you have / come to my rescue building shipping / crates and frames for paintings -- / Tom Heflin." Laid in is a preprinted Typed Letter Signed from the artist, 1p, 7¼" X 10¼", n.p., 18 July 1977. Addressed to "Friend." Very good. Announces and describes this book, and signed large and bold at the close in pencil (original, not preprinted). Also laid in is an 8½" X 11" 1998 promotional letter from The Heflin Gallery for a 20th anniversary enlarged edition of this book and an 8½" X 11" glossy heavy stock color trifold brochure for a retrospective exhibit at the Rockford Art Museum that coincided with the rerelease of this book.
