Zustand: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | The picture of the young soldier with the ears sticking out graced my mother-in-law's kitchen forever. When asked, she would reply that her younger brother Donnie disappeared during the Korean War at the tender age of eighteen. In 2010, my wife, Sandy, and I set out to discover what happened to Corporal Donald Matney and to bring him home. Our journey took us to Washington, DC; Seoul, Korea; and many places in between. But slowly, carefully, step-by-step, we reconstructed the short life of Sandy's uncle Donnie, identified his remains, and returned him to rest by his mother's side in Missouri.A Korean War Odyssey is this story. The saga begins with a Korean history lesson told through the eyes of a fictional young refugee family fleeing the North Korean invasion. It continues from the viewpoint of a soldier on occupation duty in Japan suddenly thrust into a violent "police action". Both witness the atrocities of war until one disappears. Through alternating perspectives, the account continues weaving what happened during the war with how we identified this missing young soldier and brought him home.A Korean War Odyssey provides much needed insight for today's headlines. Those with friends and relatives lost during the Forgotten War will learn what may have happened. Anyone who desires to understand the Korean War and why the US still has a presence on this Asian peninsula today will gain a new viewpoint.…

[1] pp.; 28 x 21.6 cm.; black-and-white; edition size unknown; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed; Flyer / announcement published to promote events held between 13th and 14th Streets and 6th and 5th Avenues, New York City, on April 18, 1969. Participating artists included Vito Hannibal Acconci, Terence Anderson, Arakawa, Gregory Battcock, Matthew Benedict, Michael Brownstein, Scott Burton, James Lee Byars, Rosemarie Castoro, Eduardo Costa, Bill Creston, Larry Fagin, Madeline Gins, John Giorno, Bobbi Gormley, Tom Gormley, Dan Graham, Katherine Greef, Stephen Kaltenbach, Joseph Kosuth, Leandro Katz, Alcides Lanzy, Lucy Lippard, Rosemary Mayer, Ben Patterson, John Perreault, Lil Picard, Adrian Piper, H Alexander Roberts, Marjorie Strider, Mr. T., Bernar Venet, Frank Lincoln Viner, Anne Waldman, Lewis Warsh, Luis Wells, Hannah Weiner and Lawrence Weiner. These organized street works can be understood as extensions of both the Pop art Happenings of the earlier 1960s and the street protests taking place in New York City and throughout the country during the 1968 elections, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam War. Whereas the Pop happenings usually took place in galleries and performance spaces, the street works were unconfined by physically walled-in spaces. Enacted in open environments, comingled with the natural flow of pedestrians, these performances created unlimited possibilities for happenstance with the sidewalk as the stage and the city as backdrop, the inhabitants of New York became active participants with the artists, willingly or not. Fair / Good. Folded in three and two tape stains. Name of recipient on verso in ink. …

Zustand: Fine. First Edition. Set of four (of six) "art cash" bills created for the "Art Cash Benefit for Television Programming," held by Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) in December 1971 at Automation House in New York - including the Andy Warhol "one." E.A.T was officially founded in 1967 by Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman, together with engineers Billy Kluver and Fred Waldhauser, as a nonprofit organization dedicated to experimental collaboration between artists and engineers. The four had previously collaborated in 1966 on a series of performance evenings, with John Cage, Lucinda Childs, and other notables - and the group's activities were at their peak by the beginning of the 1970s. "Art Cash" was designed as currency to be purchased and used for gambling at a fundraiser for the group and was printed exclusively for this event (by the American Banknote Company, the same company that printed currency for many governments). They were available for a brief time in sets of one bill each, and never sold in large quantities or reprinted. Individual bills are uncommon and are scarce in groups, even incomplete as here. 2.75'' x 6''. Four (of six) artist-designed bills in irregular denominations of $1, $12, $24, and $88, designed by Warhol, Rauschenberg, Gormley, and Marisol respectively (lacking Whitman and Grooms). In original, intact paper bank label printed with "$50 MANUFACTURERS HANOVER TRUST." Crisp, sharp-cornered.…
