Wraps. Presumed first edition/first printing. Pierre Tissier (born September 7, 1903, the death of 1955) was a French civil servant and officer. He is known for his efforts during World War II, when he was honored with the Norwegian War Cross for gallantry during fighting in Norway. He joined then to the Free French forces. Tissier began in 1926 in the Conseil d'Etat and was in 1938 maître des requêtes. He was in 1940 sent to Norway with the French-Polish expedition corps to resist the Nazi advance in Norway. Tissier served as captain in a military unit and was part of General Antoine Béthouart staff. For his efforts he was as a lieutenant colonel in the Norwegian Minister in London on 20 March 1942 awarded the War Cross. After the Allied forces were withdrawn from Norway, came Tissier to Britain where he spent June 1940 joined the Free French Forces under Charles de Gaulle's leadership. He got key positions and was Secretary General of coordination. Tissier published during the war several writings about the Vichy regime, as well as a book about his collaboration with Pierre Laval before the war. In 1944 he was appointed conseiller d'Etat. He suggested rearranging the Conseil d'Etat, which he considered had been closely associated with the Vichy government. After World War was Tissier chief of staff to Interior Minister Adrien Tixier.
