Original cloth, blind frames to boards, gilt library name to front, its gilt insignia to rear, gilt title and library name to spine. Light rubbing to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, corners bumped, hinges cracked, bookplate residue and small library shelf label to front pastedown. Moderate toning to interior, small library stamps to title page and a few other leaves. $350. * Second edition. "The edition.has been carefully revised, and in many chapters remodeled and enlarged. The Naval Discipline Act of 1866, the foundation of the Criminal Law of the Navy, (in itself to a great extent a reprint of the Acts of 1861 and 1864), is set out in the Appendix. All other statutes, cases, and instructions of the Admiralty, bearing on the subject, which have been passed, decided, or promulgated since the preceding edition, are referred to and, when necessary, with as much brevity as is consistent with a clear demonstration of their effect" [iii]. This book was first published in 1866; its final edition, the fourth, in 1912. The final two editions, titled Manual of Naval Law and Court Martial Procedure, were edited by J.E.R. Stephens.
