With a summary in French: "Le sculpteur Thomas Quellinus." - - A monograph on the Flemish Baroque sculptor Thomas Quellinus (March 1661 - September 1709), also known primarily in Denmark as Thomas Qvellinus. He was born in Antwerp into the renowned Quellinus family of artists active in 17th-century Antwerp. He worked most of his career in Copenhagen, Denmark, where his workshop was located. He is best known for his production of grandiose and opulent funerary monuments, memorial chapels, and epitaphs, which can be found in churches throughout Denmark and the northern German region of Schleswig-Holstein. His chapels and monuments are dramatically composed, executed in rare, differently colored marbles, and framed by monumental architectural elements.
