Cary (1951, first edition) Bound uniformly in orange cloth. 'The Compulsory Husband' was made into a film in 1930 starting Banks, Lillian Manton and Clifford Heatherley. In orange cloth bindings. Externally, generally smart. Some dampstaining to the rear of 'The Compulsory Husband'. Three hinges are tender. Ink inscriptions to front free-endpaper of two volumes. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places. Pages are bright, though with some spotting. Good. book.

Size 7.5 x 5 inches. In red cloth covers with lettering in black to spine and front cover. With illustrated dustwrapper. In very good condition with dustwrapper. (dw; Rubbed along edges with nicks to corners and ends of spine. Tear to top edge of rear cover. Some creasing to ends of spine and along top edge of front cover. Shelfwear. Zustand: Very Good. Octavo red cloth (tips rubbed/slightly marked and one corner bumped) 254pp usual paper browning else V.G 1 volume. Hardcover.

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original orange cloth with black titles to the upper board and spine, in the Alex Jardine illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth without fading. The contents with a bookplate of Harrogate Public Library to the pastedown and a faint square "withdrawn" stamp to the bottom corner of the copyright page are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper which remains without loss or large tears. Correctly priced 8/6 net to the front flap. Despite the stamp to the contrary, this copy shows very few signs of having been in the library system. Signed by the author in blue ink on the title page.
