Spine is panelled with gilt designs and gilt title, date at foot. Wide inner dentelles, red watered-silk endpapers. This is the second volume only. All edges gilt. A fine FORE-EDGE PAINTING is concealed under the gilt. A view of the Parthenon situated on the Acropolis captures the central aspect of the painting. Green trees and yellow bushes make up the border and foreground. Two people in long cloaks appear to be riding "penny farthings" (high wheel bicycles) and admiring the structure.
