Oliver Evans (13 de Setembro de 1755 - 15 de Abril de 1819) foi um inventor, engenheiro e empresário americano nascido na Delaware rural e mais tarde estabelecido comercialmente em Filadélfia. Foi um dos primeiros americanos a construir motores a vapor e um defensor do vapor de alta pressão (vs. vapor de baixa pressão). Pioneiro nos campos da automação, manuseamento de materiais e potência do vapor, Evans foi um dos inventores mais prolíficos e influentes nos primeiros anos dos Estados Unidos. The illustrations are by Thomas Ellicott, a mill owner himself. Oliver Evans (September 13, 1755 - April 15, 1819) was an American inventor, engineer and entrepreneur born in rural Delaware and later settled commercially in Philadelphia. He was one of the first Americans to build steam engines and an advocate of high pressure steam (vs. low pressure steam). A pioneer in the fields of automation, materials handling and steam power, Evans was one of the most prolific and influential inventors in America"s early years. He left behind a long string of accomplishments, notably the design and construction of the first fully automated industrial process, the first high-pressure steam engine, and the first amphibious (albeit crude) vehicle and American automobile.
