Für dieses Projekt wurde jeder Fotograf aufgefordert, entsprechende Kulturen auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks zu dokumentieren. Markus Dlouhy (25) fotografierte in Irland und Massachusetts, Sabine Spitzl (25) und Clemens Mayer (25) arbeiteten gemeinsam in Deutschland und Iowa; Marc-Oliver Schulz (30) machte Aufnahmen in Frankreich und Louisiana. Thomas Cojaniz (30) suchte seine Motive in Italien und New York auf. Die europäischen Aufnahmen wurden im Mai gemacht, die amerikanischen im Juni. In diesen zwei Monaten entstanden Tausende von Fotos: von Menschen bei der Arbeit oder beim Spiel, spontan oder gestellt; von Kindern in ihrer Kindlichkeit; von Landschaften und Stadtlandschaften; von den einfachen und den nicht so einfachen Dingen des Lebens. Die endgültige Auswahl der Bilder für die Ausstellung und den Katalog sowie aller Schwarzweiß-Portraits wurde von Herrn Professor Mack getroffen. Als Antwort von Agfa auf die begeisterten Besucherreaktionen auf die Fotoausstellung zur photokina '90 zählt "Old World, New World" keineswegs zu den sonst üblichen Ausstellungen hübscher Bilder.
