A unique association copy. Lord Morrison of Lambeth (1888-1965) was a British Labour Party politician. During his career, he served in numerous government positions, including Foreign Secretary (1951), Lord President of the Council (1945-1951), Leader of the House of Commons (1945-1951), Minister of Home Security (1940-1945), Minister of Supply (1940) and Minister of Transport (1929-1931). Morrison would likely have become Leader of the Labour Party, if not for fellow politician Clement Attlee, who remained Party Leader into the 1950s. When Attlee finally retired, Morrison was 67 and considered too old to take on the leadership of the party. Inscribed by Field Marshal Montgomery of Alamein to the author of this book, first edition of How Greater London Is Governed by the Right Honorable Herbert Morrison, Leader of the London County Council.
