Bangor Maine "druggist" Ara Warren "freed by medical ethics" upon the death of Dr. William H. Brown, makes available for sale the non-alcohol…based medicinal tonic based on Dr. Brown's formulation. Paperback octavo in yellow title lettered covers with saddle stapled binding. The rear cover includes a biographical treatment of Reverend Theodore Gerrish, a Methodist Minister of Maine whose service in the Civil war and his writings about it are recounted. Woodcut portrait of Gerrish appears on the rear cover; he provides a Minister's afterword and testimonial. The booklet describes the major ailments common in the late 19th century and Brown's Sasaparilla's ability to remedy them. Includes a number of attributed testimonials dated 1885.
