Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. First Edition. Octavo, brown cloth covers stamped in red and gilt. xv [1] 302 pages. A nice, bright copy. Thayer came up through the graphic design and advertising side of the the magazine business, and is, in fact, credited with improvements in publication design. He worked for the Boston Journal, The Ladies' Home Journal, and as advertising director at the Delineator. He pulled "Everybody's Magazine" out of a slump, earned a fortune from its sale and then went on to purchase " The Smart Set" in 1911, after this book was published. 091306A.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with red text on front. Exterior shows handling wear along with toning and some sunning, edges and corners show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are tone due to age and there is some minor foxing present, particularly on the end pages and pastedowns. Inscribed and signed by the author to Mitchell Kennerley who was an American publisher, editor, and gallery owner. The inscription reads as follows: "To Mitchell Kennerley 'The Bravest Publisher in America' with the compliments of John Adams Thayer. July 29, 1913". It is likely this book was sent to Mr. Kennerley shortly after he was arrested in 1913 for sending an "obscene" book through the mail, which was a novel dealing with Social Evil (he had published the works of Walt Whitman and Oscar Wilde at the time). Signed by Author(s).
