Scarce Northumberland election broadside addressed to Henry Thomas Liddell, later first Earl of Ravensworth and MP for Northumberland. Signed "TENAX", the text questions allegations made against Matthew Bell and forms part of the extensive political literature generated during the celebrated Northumberland election of 1826. The contest produced a large quantity of ephemeral election material including broadsides, handbills, songs and political addresses, much of which was intended for temporary circulation and survival. Liddell was subsequently elected MP for Northumberland later in 1826 alongside Matthew Bell. A desirable example of late Georgian political ephemera relating to one of the best-known county election campaigns of the period. Minor creasing and age-toning. Near fine condition.
