No Binding. Zustand: Very Good. A Tour through the Island of Rügen in the Baltic, during the year 1805, in a series of letters by Temporary Inhabitant. [Grümbke, Johann Jacob]. Translated from the German. Published by Richard Phillips, London, 1807. Disbound. Small 8vo up to 9½" tall., 64pp. with 3 plates, one of which is folding. A very rare copy in very good condition. Johann Jacob Grümbke (1771 - 1849) was a German historian and geographer. He extensively researched the history and geography of Rügen and illustrated his own works. A Tour through the Island of Rügen was Grümbke's pointed response to what he considered as inaccurate and sometimes erroneous travelogues by some of his predecessors. He describes his wanderings across the island of Rügen in 12 letters dated from July 26, 1803, to October 7, 1803.
