This catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition of work by Michael Rothenstein (1908-1993) which was held at three venues from 1988-1989, commencing with the Angela Flowers Gallery in London, then the Drumcroon gallery in Wigan and finally the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh, Lancashire. The three exhibitions were held partly in celebration of his eightieth year, and covered a span of 76 years, up to his most recent output in 1988. The Angela Flowers exhibition featured 30 or so of his most recent paintings, the Turnpike displayed the most comprehensive survey of his prints of the 1980s to the date of the exhibition, and aspects of both these exhibitions were brought together at Drumcroon.…
