Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | No one can prepare you to become a caregiver to your spouse when they are diagnosed with and suffer from Alzheimer's. In Forever Bound, devoted husband Michael compiles an anthology of poems for similar caregiving spouses. For nearly 40 years, Michael and Diane shared the most incredible life together-building their dreams, their family, and their intertwined lives. When Diane was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, their life together continued. but roles began to shift. Soon, Michael's vivacious, loving wife transformed into a wheelchair-bound person whose verbal and written skills have all but disappeared, and who could no longer take care of her daily basic human needs. Through everything, a deep love prevailed-but that didn't erase the emotional rollercoaster Michael unknowingly boarded when he took the mantle of caregiver. To help himself process his feelings, and to offer support to other spouses in similar situations, Michael has crafted a small but powerful book of poems that encapsulate the litany of emotions that caregiving for a spouse with Alzheimer's brings. The poems within Forever Bound reflect the intensity of thoughts and feelings as a husband watches his wife decline, knowing he can do nothing to stop the progression.Early readers have termed the poetry collection "powerful," "emotional," and "tough" with refreshing candor and seemingly "inspired by a higher being." At its foundation, Forever Bound is simply meant for like minded readers to acknowledge the deep feelings generated by this Alzheimer's journey-and to recognize that they are not alone. For husbands, wives, and other partners in life who have walked the Alzheimer's journey with their affected significant other. This poetry collection sees you, hears you,and validates you.

In den WarenkorbAnne Williamson, author of two books on Henry Williamson and of his entry in the Oxford DNB, was married to his youngest son Richard (1935-2022). The present typewritten material (88pp, 8vo) consists of several drafts and duplicates of material intended for circulation to production companies she hoped to interest in a television documentary on Williamson. It is in good condition, with each page printed on a separate leaf of A4 cartridge paper. The covering leaf, which is lightly creased, reads: 'The dreamer of Devon / Henry Williamson / writer / 1895-1977 / An outline / for / biographical television treatment.' At bottom left: 'Prepared by / Anne Williamson' and her West Sussex address. Written in red ink above the words 'An outline' is: 'Background information for'. An introductory page titled 'The Dreamer of Devon' and a page discussing 'Some key dates in the life of Henry Williamson' are followed by two sets - one plain and the other with manuscript additions also in red ink - of eleven 'BIOG PANELS', mini essays on aspects of Williamson's life, with titles: 'Early days', 'The First World War', 'Move to Georgeham in North Devon', 'The early twenties', 'The Hawthornden Prize', 'Shallowford days', 'The Norfolk farm', 'Return to Devon', 'Ancient sunlight', 'Last days' and 'L'envoi'. She explains the original purpose of these eleven essays in a pencil note: 'The following pages were based on Display Boards normally accompanied by about fifty photographs and used for Exhibition purposes. Thus they are only a broad outline and bland in content. They are offered as a useful background. NB. The display panels were blown up to A3 & encapsulated in plastic.' Also present in addition to these two sets is an earlier draft of the eleven-page section, with duplicate pages and a few variations thereof, totalling 64pp.

In den WarenkorbFrom the Henry Williamson papers. The present text does not feature in Williamson's 1941 memoir of Lawrence 'Genius of Friendship', and appears to be unpublished. (According to Williamson's entry in the Oxford DNB, the publication in 1927 of 'Tarka the Otter' 'attracted the attention of T. E. Lawrence, whose letter of praise started a correspondence and friendship between the two. Indeed, Lawrence's fatal motorcycle crash on 14 May 1935 occurred as he was returning from a trip to the post office to send a telegram to Williamson'.) Eighteen lines of typewritten text, single-spaced, on one side of a 20 x 17 cm piece of laid Partridge & Cooper Ledger paper cut from the lower part of a leaf. Lightly aged and spotted, with one punch hole in margin. Two folds. Autograph emendation of the word 'jerk' to 'turn'. Two paragraphs, the first (and shorter) reading: 'There are several characteristic gestures of his that I can see vividly. One of them, his expression and action in turning his head upon a speaker when an idea has taken sudden root in his head from what has been said. He would turn his head sideways at an angle of 15º, give the person a quick glance and then frown, and as it were, set his eyes upon the other person's eyes with a swift jerk, as though to strike a line through the other's brain, to clear a way through thought-confusion to sky-clarity beyond.' The second paragraph discusses 'the hidden springs of his tact', 'difficult to convey in a screen version of his life', with reference to 'a George Arliss film'. Ends: 'The real thing, indeed, as Lawrence knew and used it, is terrifically better theatre. It is the basis of all religion.'.

In den WarenkorbSee his entry in the Oxford DNB. According to Anne Williamson's 1995 biography, Williamson decided on the spot to purchase the farm at Bank House, Botesdale, Suffolk, when his car broke down across the road from it in July 1945. The purchase price was £1700. Five years later he decided that the farm 'could be honourably sold and he could become a full-time writer again'. It was sold in September 1950 for £2,600, although, as Anne Williamson notes, and the present item makes clear, a higher price had previously been considered. The present item is a 3pp, 4to. It is a complete typescript of Williamson's sale description of the house, with numerous autograph emendations, ending 'Price for quick sale £3,500.' On two leaves of A4 paper, the first of which has some damage to one corner at the top, resulting in some damage to three or four typed words, and one word in autograph, all of which are easily supplied. Otherwise in good condition, lightly aged and creased, with one horizontal fold. Sixty-seven lines of text, beginning: 'Bank House, Botesdale, a village with a broad main street containing many houses of Georgian design and period, some with creeper and clematis covered fronts, lies between Diss and Bury St Edmunds, in a district of rural Suffolk, yet close to the main-line station to Ipswich and London.' Not unexpectedly a highly readable account for a practical document, with some indication that the writer is an author. In fact, in the second paragraph he writes (autograph addition in square brackets): 'The last five years it has been occupied by an author, Henry Williamson, who wrote the Phasian Bird in the large top-story room, with its western view over [far-flung] arable fields and woods.' Later on: 'There is a seperate entrance to the large gravelled yard with grass borders, by means of a courtyard gate, [leading to] a tiled garage holding two motorcars; and adjoining a cement-floored workshop. The area of this year and buildings [is] about [that of] a tennis court with [margins for overplay.]' And later still: 'It is not an large unwieldy house, but a spacious dwelling built for himself by one of the burgesses of this old Suffolk village when wool, from the great ewe-flocks of the neighbourhood, was yet the basis of England's wealth, [by the craft of the] East Anglian weavers.' Williamson describes how he has spent 'a fair amount of money on reconditioning the place'. See Image.
