Folding sugoroku game sheet, printed with black and brown ink, occasional light browning, a few small repairs on reverse. 39.8 x 55cm. Very good. This intriguing sugoroku game was most likely created for prospective migrants from Japan. Players travel from Japan to various destinations, mainly in the Americas and Southeast Asia - countries such as Honduras, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Vietnam and Burma are included in the game. Australia is also listed as one of the destinations. The illustrations depict local people and culture to a certain degree, but not always accurately. The goal shows a motto which says that success is a result of hard work and perseverance, which would appeal to prospective migrants. Advertisements which are printed on the game sheet were sponsored by businesses which catered for Japanese migrating overseas.
