Soft cover. Zustand: New. In The Mahatma's Manifesto, Rajesh Talwar offers a searing critique of Gandhi's Hind Swaraj, dismantling the idealistic and often impractical vision laid out by the father of the nation. With sharp analysis and unflinching clarity, Talwar exposes the contradictions and flaws in Gandhi's rejection of modernity, industrialization, and Western thought. Rather than the revered path to freedom, Hind Swaraj emerges as a regressive manifesto, advocating a return to an antiquated past that denies the complexities and potential of a rapidly evolving world. Talwar challenges Gandhi's vision of self-sufficiency as a blueprint for national development, arguing that it is an isolating, economically stifling fantasy that undermines India's progress.

Soft cover. Zustand: New. ABOUT THE BOOK WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!!!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, CLEAR AND CONVINCING EXPLANATIONS. Netaji Bose, who led the Indian National Army to wage battles against the British, allegedly died in an air crash in Taipei, Taiwan soon after the Second World War came to an end. Did he really die in the air crash or was it a fabrication? This question was considered by three inquiry commissions, the last of which came to the clear conclusion that there was in fact no air crash. Each report is carefully dissected by the author, a trained international lawyer and public intellectual. If Bose did not in fact die in the air crash, where did he go, what happened to him, and when, where and how did he meet his end? Why did Prime Minister Nehru keep Bose-related files away from the first committee that conducted an enquiry? Why did India's first prime minister order that surveillance be carried out on the Bose family for decades? Why did Prime Minister Morarji Desai speak of new evidence that challenged the conclusions of the first two inquiries that Bose had died in an air crash? Why did Desai subsequently fall silent? This book provides explanations on all the important questions that have plagued Indian minds for decades. The mystery behind the springing tiger's disappearance is finally unlocked. If Gandhi's non-violent struggle represented the feminine spirit of 'ahimsa' Bose and the INA's struggle represented Indian manhood in its fullest flowering. In freedom struggles across the world, some of those who fought the hardest are subsequently ignored. If we apply the necessary corrective to the history of Indian independence, the author argues, we will change India's view of itself and its place in the world, past, present and future. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rajesh Talwar has studied at Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Nottingham and Delhi University for longer and shorter durations, with varying degrees of enthusiasm. He has worked for the United Nations in Somalia, Liberia, K.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Language: English. INGLISTAN is a novel. Its main protagonist Rabi is an Indian lawyer, who comes to New College, Oxford to do a sixmonth diploma in Human Rights Law. The novel chronicles the high and low points of his halfyear through his interaction with relatives long settled in England, former Indian friends now based there, and students who represent British, American, European and other nationalities. He falls in love with an English girl and for some time it appears that the story will follow on the lines of the tragic affair his great uncle had with a European woman years earlier. Paperback. Zustand: New. Language: English. John, a lecturer in philosophy at Delhi University, returns to his flat one evening to find a letter waiting for him. A subsequent meeting with the author of the letter leaves a question mark over the supposed death of john's fiancée, some years earlier. He temporarily suspends his work with the hijra community in Delhi to accompany Diamond, a researcher in aesthetics, to Shimla, where he had formerly studied. At Shimla they find themselves in the midst of a rightwing conspiracy. After four weeks, when John returns to Delhi he is nowhere near a solution to the problem. If anything, events in the past seem even more inexplicable. This is a story of a deeply felt personal quest for beauty and love, against the backdrop of modern India with all its strange contradictions and tensions. Paperback. Zustand: New. Language: English. ABOUT THE BOOK The Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj Banjade murder case gripped the imagination of the nation for the better part of a decade, and is likely to remain a running story for many more years. The case involved the shocking and heinous murder of a young teenage girl, Aarushi and the family servant Hemraj, and was first investigated by the state police that allowed the crime scene to be heavily contaminated and robbed of all direct evidence. The case took many twists and turns, which were widely reported in the media. Initially the Talwars, Nupur and Rajesh, dentists and parents of the young girl were suspected of the crime by the state police, but subsequently when investigation was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the country's premier investigative agency, the first team investigating the matter reached the conclusion that the Talwars were innocent and it was Hemraj's associates that had committed the murders. The case took another turn when a fresh investigating team was put in charge following the appointment of a new director. This new team exonerated the servants and directed the needle of suspicion once more towards the Talwars. In the trial that followed the Talwars were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. Many questions, however, still remain. This book considers some of those unanswered questions, examines the trial court judgement and related material closely in the context of three possible scenarios, and concludes that the Talwars were probably innocent and should at any rate been given the benefit of reasonable doubt. The author of a bestselling book on the Nirbhaya case makes a compelling case as to why the Allahabad High Court redressed a flawed verdict and why Aarushi Talwar murder case remains one of the most debated, but ultimately unsolved, crimes of this century.
