Externally smart with fading to the spine, slight rubbing to the illustration to the front board, damp staining and slight cockling to the rear, minimal rubbing to the joints and bumping to the extremities resulting in wear and a very small closed tear to the tail of the spine. Endpapers age toned with remnants of a prize label dated 1919 to the front free endpaper. Front hinge tender and rear starting, both after blanks. The first four stories, 'On an Indian Trail', 'At Duty's Call', 'Working Up' and 'Down a Crevasse', were written by George Alfred Henty (1832-1902), who is well-known for his adventure fiction and historical fiction.
