Common Research Programme on Plant Protein Improvement. The previous three volumes report proceedings from the seminar in Sari in 1978 (Some current research on Vicia faba in Western Europe), and from Cambridge in 1979 (Vicia faba : Feeding value, processing and viruses) and in Wageningen in 1980 (Vicia faba : Physiology and Breeding). The theme of this seminar, held at the University of Nottingham from 14th to 16th September 1983 was selected to examine current research on agronomy, physiology, plant breeding and nutrition. 84 delegates from 15 European countries attended. Throughout the seminar there was a spirit of friendliness and co-operation. Everyone seemed dedicated to doing real justice to the faba bean crop. Volume one (from 1829) is the text volume, with descriptions in both French and English of Paris landmarks, like Sainte Chapelle, the Church of Notre Dame, the Louvre, etc. Featuring 200 illustrations on 100 plates, done under the direction of A. Pugin, the supervision of C. Heath, and with descriptions by L. T. Ventouillac. Most plates with tissue guard. Volume one with corners rubbed and with edge wear. Pages lightly foxed throughout, not badly effecting text. With former owner's signature on front free endpaper. Volume two with front board broken, but attached. With pages preceding title page detached, but present. This volume shows foxing and water staining throughout which effects about half of the plates. Binding rubbed and scuffed. Overall, in fair condition.

Military aerodrome later temporary civil aerodrome, RNAS Aeroplane School, RFC | RAF Training Depot Station, 138 Squadron (Avro 504Bs & 504Es Later Bristol F.2 Fighters). The first mention of this aerodrome is on 15th May 1915 when Flight Commander Hyde-Thomson (RNAS) was awarded Pilot Certificate No. 1245 flying a Bristol Biplane from here. He also listed flying a Wight Seaplane from CALSHOT. Between 1915 and 1919 it was used to train around 1,000 pilots before they were sent to Europe, shortly afterwards the aerodrome closed in 1919. This 'in-house' magazine named 'The Chingflier' had a short history and was published between October 1916 to February 1918. Contains 38 (including the covers) printed pages of text with monochrome illustrations and photographs throughout, including full-page cartoons specially drawn for 'The Chingflier' by W. A lovely volume consisting of 204 engraved views of Paris, accompanied by descriptive passages.The detailed engravings are the work of Augustus Pugin, an Anglo-French artist, draughtsman and writer on medieval architecture. Whilst Pugin was born in Paris, he left France during the Revolution and spent most of his life in England, thus able to straddle the divide between an insiders and outsiders depiction of the French capitol.The topographical and historical descriptive passages accompanying Pugin's engravings were written by L.T. Ventouillac.Two volumes in one, with a general engraved undated title page only, and continuous pagination. This work contains the contents pages of both volumes. Dated c.1831, as Volume I was published in 1929, and Volume II in 1831.Bearing both a former owner's inscription , 'D. L. Cumming', and contemporary owner's inscription, 'Mrs J. Bolding'.
