Hardcover. Zustand: New. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: New. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Deluxe limited edition of 50 copies with an original Type-C print (image size 9-3/8 x 11-1/2 inches, paper size 13-3/8 x 15-5/8-inches, printed on Kodak Professional Endura paper), signed, dated and numbered on verso in black ink by Suzuki. Hardcover. Fine ecru cloth-covered boards with title stamped in white on cover and spine, with photographically illustrated dust jacket; book and print contained in a fine ecru cloth-covered clamshell box with title blind-stamped on cover. Photographs by Risaku Suzuki. Essay by Hideki Maeda. Includes a brief chronology, exhibition history and artist's bibliography. Unpaginated (80 pp.), with 43 four-color plates beautifully printed on fine matte art paper. 13-5/8 x 16 inches. New in publisher's packaging (book, clamshell box and print all in flawless, pristine condition). From the publisher: "Featured in over fifty paintings by Cézanne, the Mont Sainte Victoire in Southern France is familiar even to those who have never been there. A century later, photographer Risaku Suzuki has followed in the great artist's footsteps, using a quite different medium to depict the landscape on the way. In Suzuki's photographs there is a feeling of movement and progression, giving the journey a pace that ought to be at odds with a series of static images. Sometimes it is as if the camera has legs and a mind of its own as it strays from the path to take in just one more inconspicuous part of the environment -- and all the while the audience is beckoned to come along too. Using limited depth of field, Suzuki focuses the lens on a tree, a piece of rock, unexceptional segments of a remarkable climb upwards. Risaku Suzuki is one of Japan's most prominent young photographers. His work has been widely published in Japan, and exhibited in Asia, Europe and the United States. His photographs were included in 'The History of Japanese Photography' exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He is a past winner of the Kimura Ihee Award." Signed by Author.

Paper-covered boards, no dust jacket as issued. 16 pp., with 11 four-color plates. 7-1/2 x 5-3/4 inches. New. The 13th publication in the Nazraeli Press One Picture Book series. From the publisher: "Fire: February 6 (One Picture Book #13) documents one of the artist's home town celebrations, the annual Shingu Fire Festival. Gathered at night in the Kannokura shrine, high in the mountains, the participants kindle a single flame, from which each light pine torches. En masse, they descend the stone steps, creating a river of fire in the evening sky. The sacred torches are then taken to each home in the community and used to rekindle fires, signifying regeneration as the winter draws to a close. Risaku Suzuki is one of Japan's most prominent young photographers. His work has been published widely in Japan, and has been exhibited in Asia, Europe and the United States. Suzuki's photographs are included in the traveling exhibition "The History of Japanese Photography" organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Fire: February 6 is the first Western publication devoted exclusively to his work." Signed by Author.

Prima edizione di 100 esemplari numerati e firmati (First edition of 100 numbered and signed copies). . Prima edizione di 100 esemplari numerati e firmati (First edition of 100 numbered and signed copies). Book.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. White paper-covered boards with title printed in yellow on cover and spine, with photographically illustrated dust jacket and 2-1/2 inch photographically illustrated obi. Photographs by Risaku Suzuki. Text (in Japanese and English) by Takako Matsuda. Includes a brief biography and an exhibition history (in Japanese and English). Designed by Akira Tsuchikiri. Unpaginated (148 pp.), with 111 four-color plates. Printed in Japan by Korinsha Printing Co., Ltd. 9-1/8 x 11-1/4 inches. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket (light shelf wear and toning to the extremities, else Fine) and Near Fine obi (moderate creasing and soiling, but intact). The first section of this monograph is entitled "Osorezan," in reference to the sacred mountain where spirits of the dead roam. In the book's second section, as Matsuda asserts, "we find images of light, called 'izanami'. Invoking the name of Izanami-no-Mikoto, the deity-creator of Japan, these photographs have a sense of quick movement. If we look at these images as a simple record of a journey, we lose track of the destination." Suzuki was awarded the Ihee Kimura award in 2000 for Piles of Time, which also features other sacred sites, such as Kumano in Wakayama Prefecture and Osorezan in Aomori Prefecture. From a review by Midori Matsui (Artforum, November 2005): "Coupled with the overall precision, blurs and accidental details lend the pictures a touch of unreality, signaling an eruption of another dimension of experience. The premonition of something unnatural coming, intensifying as the photographer approaches the site, ultimately signifies the incommensurable.".
