Colour paper plan with index to the back 51x45cm folding down into wraps with b/w illustrations of key sites laid on to colour bands representing the Iraqi flag 14x23cm. Very good, neatly folded. This has the logo of the Summer Resorts and Tourism Service to the image, and was issued by them as stated (the Iraq Automobile and Touring Association issued the same map replacing with their logo). Approx 1cm to 400 metres. Undated, but c1961-71 based on there being separate UAR and Syrian Embassies marked. The area is approximately bounded by Sulaikh (N), New Baghdad Plant Nursery (E), Baghdad University City (S), and Hurriya City (W). Features include bus route with numbers, railway, filling stations, ariline office, mosques, churches, swimming pool, hospitals, Government offices and ministries, museums and public gardens, and embassies. An arrow to the north points in the direction of the Tourist Camping Site, which is shown in an inset 1:5000, laid out along the Army Canal.

(2) Ur and (3) Arch of Ctesiphon both published by the Tourism and Summer Resorts Administration, Baghdad, each 11x24cm opening out to 22x24cm (4 panels), English and Arabic texts, with b/w photos and drawings. Undated, c1960s. All very good.

Very good, neatly folded with a couple of short closed tears. Compiled and drawn by A.K. Dorri (also spelt Dori to the map), printed in the General Directorate of Surveys, Baghdad, 1976, for the Summer Resorts and Tourism Administration. The main map, 1/500,000, captioned in English and Arabic, is attractively drawn with ancient sites shown pictorially, and tourist facilities represented by symbols. Details include 4 classes of road, distances, railways, international and Muhafadha (Governorate) boundaries, administrative centres at several levels (Muhafadha, Qadha, Nahiya, Village), tourist establishments, hotels, guesthouses, motels, casinos, Summer resorts, beaches, hostels, camping, museums, customs house, filling stations, and tourist and sailing boats. The insets are of Baghdad, Mosul, and Basrah with their districts named, and main sites shown pictorially. The verso has 8 photos of ancient and cultural sites (Ctesiphon, Hatra, Samarra, a typical Basrah house), modern buildings (including the Liberation Monument and Students House in Baghdad), and the Gali Ali Beg Waterfall. A comprehensive table indicates the availability of tourist facilities at many important places organised by region. There is also a mileage table, index, and a "Iraq and the World" location map showing Iraq looking west towards Europe and North Africa.

This is a decorative 1913 Matthews-Northrup map of New England. The map depicts from New York City northwards along the Atlantic coast as far as New Brunswick and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and from the Hudson River Valley to the Atlantic Seaboard. Thick red lines highlight the Boston and Maine Railroad. This network includes not only the Boston and Maine Railroad, but also the Maine Central Railroad, the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad, and the Boston and Albany Railroad, along with several others. Thinner red lines trace routes of connecting railroads, while other railroads, electric railways, stage lines, and canals, are illustrated by various notations. An inset map on the lower right highlights 'American Switzerland' the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Boston and Maine Railroad Commonly known as the 'B and M', the Boston and Maine Railroad was chartered in New Hampshire on June 27, 1835. The firm consolidated several smaller companies, including the Andover and Haverhill Railroad and later the Boston and Portland Railroad. It merged with the Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts Railroad in 1842, but retained the Boston and Maine operating name. In the subsequent decades it acquired or leased several other railroads, including the Boston and Lowell (1887), Northern (1884), Connecticut River (1893), Concord and Montreal (1887), and Fitchburg (1900). In 1910 it was acquired by J. P. Morgan and his New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The firm initially prospered on the development of mill towns throughout New England and later capitalized on tourism from urban centers in Boston and New York. Nonetheless, the railroad went through a decline during the Great Depression, when most of the old textile mills closed. Part of the Boston and Maine network remains in operation today under the Pan Am Railways (PAS) brand. Publication History and Census This map was created by Matthews Northrup for the Boston and Maine Railroad and published in 1913. We note six examples of the 'Season 1913' edition cataloged in OCLC, which are part of the collections at the Boston Athenaeum, Salem State University, the Library of Congress, the Osher Map Library at the University of Southern Maine, the University of Michigan, and the Newberry Library.
