Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Charlie and Deidre were young lovers, and through misunderstanding and time, have lost touch with each other. Willie is friends with each of them, and recognizes that they have much in common. Unaware of their past, he reunites them, and their friendship is rekindled. Charlie and Willie have…been friends for many years, writing, directing, and acting together in the theatre. They reminisce about their experiences, and the loss of people they have known. Willie fears that they will all be forgotten, and fears that he too will be forgotten. Charlie is a writer, has traveled extensively, loves art and music, and has wonderful memories of Rome. Willie is a man of the soil, a common man, and the best friend one could have. Deidre has lived a varied international life, including living in Rome, and has become friends with Willie through mutual interests and experiences. Together they relive their past, confront their fears, and contemplate their uncertain individual futures. Every Day Is A Good Day is about the fear of being forgotten, about memories and remembering, about loss, illness, death, hope, and caring. It speaks of friendship and rebirth. Above all else, it is about the power of love.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The genesis of this play began decades ago with the fear of nuclear war, and subsequently the use of various kinds of chemical warfare such as that used in the Vietnam war. Some of these continue to affect people to this day. However, it became clear long ago that biological weapons would eve…ntually become the means of mass warfare (and mass destruction). DNA and other scientific evidence indicate that mankind reached the brink of extinction seventy-five thousand years ago. If mankind again reaches near extinction, it likely would be the result of biological warfare or a natural cataclysmic event, rather than via nuclear or chemical warfare. The pandemics of the Black Death of 1347, the Spanish flu of 1918, and the coronavirus, are not known to be of biological warfare origin. This play was initially written before the current pandemic, and represents the hypothetical result of massive biological warfare. Coronavirus shows the massive impact one single everyday virus can have on worldwide civilization. A play that has a multi-racial cast featuring characters of different racial heritages, which might be the natural result of a Great Pandemic, and my visits to Tristan da Cunha, where racial diversity is the result of naturally occurring events, have solidified my desire to write such a play. The Burrow combines these two themes. Four survivors of the Great Pandemic, all seeking a safe haven in a world of desolation and lawlessness, come together in the confines of a barn, a burrow, which provides a place of shelter, safety, sustenance and survival, and a focus of fertility. They are joined eventually by two others, fleeing a dying community. This ethnically diverse group consists of: -A writer, well-educated, yearning for home and security.-A survivalist, well-educated, resourceful, streetwise, dreamer, visionary, yet practical.-A vagabond, streetwise, uneducated, resourceful, earthy, yearning for a mate, with a strong desire for nurturing. -A revolutionary, self-sufficient, idealistic.-Two young 'warrior women', with long range sharpshooting and rapid-fire skills. They have their own individual goals, roles, and desires, and coexist with feelings of isolation, hopelessness, and helplessness. When threatened from outside, they come together to confront the dangers. As their inevitable launching into the outside world approaches, they prepare to leave as a team with common goals and plans. The underlying goodness of man slowly emerges, and the characters are filled with joy, hope, love and humor.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - It was the coldest of times. It was the wettest of times. The winds blew incessantly across the desolate land. There was no sign of living human life and yet life continued. Wild animals survived and increased in number, preying on unprepared domestic ones. Mice and rats and foxes increased.…It was the beginning of a new world, or some would say it was the return to an old world, a very old world. Powerful diseases developed in biological labs were unleashed and spread across the landscape, devouring most of mankind, creating a dystopian lawless world. But a few scattered humans managed to escape the ravishes of the Plague, as it soon became to be known. Five years passed from the beginning of the plague, and four particular humans eventually found each other and bonded together to survive: A wild young woman surviving almost as a wild animal. She feels like a feral animal, wanting her own nest. She flees the dangers of the south, only to find danger as she travels north. A former teacher and aspiring writer. All she wants is a home and a family, and to write about the history of the plague. She sails south from her island home only to encounter a ravished and hostile environment, and nearly perishes. A man of many talents, formerly radio operator and navigator on a ship and trained in the growing of food under various conditions. His skills are valuable in an emerging new world. His main desire is to raise food to support himself and others. A revolutionary living by his wits and always on the edge of danger. Initially he seeks a guerilla group to help fight the invading enemy. However, he soon finds such a group no longer exists and leads this small group in defending themselves. This group is joined by two others, who have survived the plague and whose skills complement those of the other four. They find a place of shelter, safety, sustenance and survival, and a focus of fertility. They have their own individual goals, roles, and desires, and coexist with feelings of isolation, hopelessness, and helplessness. When threatened from outside, they come together to confront the dangers. As their inevitable launching into the outside world approaches, they prepare to leave as a team with common goals and plans, and with joy, hope, love and humor. They sail away, seeking a land of plenty, a safe haven, to pursue a utopian existence, to form a new world in an old land, they call Cascadia.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Across two millennia, the Merovingian Scrolls and the Bloodline have been passed down through the generations, hidden from the world and those who seek to destroy them. Sarah lives in the first century AD. She flees Aegyptus with her mother Mary Magdalene across North Africa and sails to Sout…hern France, seeking safety in Rhédae. Sarah noticed the small mark in the middle of her chest. Her skin was dark but this mark was white and round. 'Mama, why do I have this mark on my chest Is something wrong with me ' 'Sarah, that mark is very special. It is a sign from heaven. You are the only one that has it and you are indeed very special.' The genealogy of the birthmark, the Merovingian Cross, is described in the scroll carried from Egypt to Rhédae, and later in the Merovingian Scrolls, tracing the origin of the birthmark and the journey of the bloodline through generations, linking Sarah to the Merovingian Dynasty. In 679 AD, Dagobert found a small crevice in the undercroft of the church of Sainte Marie-Madeleine and hid the scrolls behind a small marked brick. 'They must never under any circumstances fall into the hands of the Church.' Jeb and Magda live in the 8th century. The last of the royal Merovingian bloodline, they flee Rhédae, on an arduous six month march through western France to the King's castle at Stenay in the north. Their protector warrior, Clotaire, returned from Stenay and his face was ashen. 'They have all been massacred.' Clotaire broke down and wept. 'All the men, women and children have been killed and put in a common grave. When my men arrived they were ambushed, slaughtered, and their bodies scattered. The assassins left quickly when they could not find what they were looking for: the two of you.' They flee to the seacoast, cross the channel, and march the length of Britannia at night, seeking refuge near Medcaut. Jed and Martha live at the end of the 14th century in Roslin, the home of Prince Henry Sinclair, one of the last Templars and possessor of the Cathar and Templar treasures. Descendants of the Merovingians, they all flee Scotland and sail across the seas to New Scotland, a new life, new friends, and many dangers. 'Martha, I think the reason for this voyage is to bring all the treasures and manuscripts from the Cathars and Templars to New Scotland. What do you think ' 'What about bringing all the descendants of the Templars to New Scotland And those of the Merovingians ' 'And the scrolls I have that he asked me to keep safe.' 'Jed, I think you're right. We're not going home. This will be our new home.' Jes and Marya live in the middle of the 20th century. Pursued by an ominous stranger intent on killing or capturing them, they flee New England for Nova Scotia where the truth of their destinies is revealed to them The black bearded stranger dashed straight at Marya. She started running but he caught her with one hand. She screamed and wriggled as hard as she could but could not escape. Jes raced toward them and threw himself at the man's legs, knocking him down. Marya wriggled free but the man leaped up, grabbed Jes, dragging him toward the woods. Marya bit him on the hand and he cursed and swung wildly at her, but still held Jes tightly in his grip. Sarah, Jeb and Magda, Jed and Martha, and Jes and Marya live in different eras and places, but they share the same legacy: they possess the Birthmark, a white circle with a red cross within. Each of them protects and passes on the scrolls, proof of the progression of the bloodline flowing through ages. And each is fleeing from a similar danger. Their destinies and the scrolls they guard, are interwoven over time and place. The future of the bloodline and the evidence of its continued existence are in their hands - and those of their descendants.
