Zustand: VERY GOOD. 1st US trade paperback printing. Novel set on the island of Kailuana in Papua New Guinea in 1959 in the last days of Australian rule, which is centered on a government inquiry into an outbreak of native violence and horrific death of a young administrator, a story which vividly depicts the clash of cultures between the Indigenous peoples and their colonial rulers. Although Stow received many awards, including the Patrick White award in 1979, he is the least well-known of the three great twentieth-century Australian novelists whose other members are Patrick White and Christina Stead. 189 pp Very good in glossy illustrated wrappers.

Softcover. Zustand: Befriedigend.
