Cloth. Zustand: Near Fine. Herbert Morton Stoops (illustrator). Later printing. Herbert Morton Stoops. Later printing. [4], 192, [1] pages. 8vo. 6 x 8 inches. Original brick-red cloth binding with black illustration and lettering to the front panel and spine. No dj, hinges reinforced as published. Minor soiling to the binding, and a bit of smudging to the last letter "D" in the title (apparently at the time of printing). Bright and clean internally. Cloth. The last page in this edition includes a teachers note. This is "a story about Indian children with the authentic background of primitive Indian life among the Hackensack band of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware tribe, who lived along the Passaic River in northern New Jersey before the White-Face came in the boat-with-swings." Binding reinforced as normal with school editions, and with different binding than the original edition. Per Zempel and Verkler, a later printing with no date on the title page. A tight clean copy of a scarce children's title.

Magazine. Zustand: Very Good. Illustrated by (covers) Herbert Morton Stoops (illustrator). (Vol. 61, No. 6 - Vol. 62, No. 5). [a solid Very Good on average (several issues would individually grade Near Fine), with the only serious condition problems being some soiling and surface damage along the spine and lower rear cover of the December 1935 issue, and a couple of surface scrapes/blemishes on the front cover of the November 1935 issue]. These six issues of The Blue Book Magazine contain the first appearance of Burroughs's "Tarzan and the Immortal Men," published in hardcover and subsequently known as "Tarzan's Quest," presented in monthly installments from October 1935 (Vol. 61, No. 6) through March 1936 (Vol. 62, No. 5). The text illustrations for the Burroughs novel are by Frank Hoban, although the one cover (for the opening installment) that depicts Tarzan himself was painted by the magazine's regular cover illustrator at that time, Herbert Morton Stoops. This presents a rare opportunity to examine this "Tarzan" adventure in its original context, as each issue is complete with the many other stories and features for which this popular magazine was known.
