Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 2 volumes from the 12 volume Works of William Makepeace Thackeray. These are volume 2 and 7 (numbered on the title page, not on the spine). Both in rust orange cloth with gold lettering and black and gold bands and decoration. Both on good clean bindings, tight and square. About 700 pages each. The books themselves are part of a fairly standard Victorian set of Thackeray - but each has a bookplate -- with the name "Anne S. Brown. Stoneleigh" on the inside front cover. Stoneleigh was the mansion built by Robert Brown just outside of Baltimore, in 1852. Brown was the son of the founder of the Baltimore Medical College. The house was a prim, 22 room, Victorian -- and was torn down to make way for a development community in the 1950s. These two volumes from a member of the Brown family are a nice remembrance of the lost home. Please email with questions or to request photos.
