Erstausgabe
Hardcover. First edition. 72 pages. 19 x 13 cm. The author is in reality Edward Prime-Stevenson (1848-1942) a music critic and a lifelong aficionado of queer gossip who also wrote under the name of Xavier Mayne. Gossip presented as fact in Mayne's sexological work recurs in Prime-Stevenson's music criticism, often with only the briefest efforts to hide its author's deep knowledge of sexology and and queer musical culture. The author presents this book as a literary resurrection of a work by Robert Antrobus. The theme being a complicated way of dealing cards to foretell the future. Now considered a literary hoax. Illustrated cover in black and green with playing cards a cat and hooded character. Multicolored and illustrated black cloth. Teg. Near fine.
