I had kept a daily calendar while in Vietnam and for a couple of years before and after as well. That calendar was the basis of most of the stories included in the book regarding Vietnam and some of the training leading up to my deployment. Rather than limit "my story" to just Vietnam I decided to treat the book as sort of an autobiography. Thus, I began with some of my early recollections of growing up in Atlanta, Georgia. For most of the material recounting my early childhood, elementary school, high school and college years I depended on my memory such as it is! Much has happened since my return from Vietnam and with that in mind I'm already considering a second book.
