9 lose Bll. Neun Original-Entwurfszeichnungen u. aquarellierte Grafiken zum ?Kinderheim ?Tante Mary??, dem ?Sommer-Sonnenheim ?Tante Mary?? und dem ?Schülerheim ?Junge Welt?? Zwei der Blätter sind mit 1932 bzw. 1934 datiert, aufgrund der Bezüge der Grafiken aufeinander ist deshalb zu schließen, dass die undatierten Grafiken auch aus diesen Jahren stammen. Fünf der Grafiken sind von Edith Stern signiert, es ist davon auszugehen, dass die anderen Grafiken auch von Stern stammen. - Das Wiener Kinderheim ?Tante Mary? wurde geleitet von Maria Korwill, genannt ?Mary? 1907 in Baden geboren wurde sie am 11.01.1942 aus Wien ins Ghetto Riga deportiert, wo sie in der ?5er Schule? Lehrerin von u.a. Gertrude Schneider war. Die Historikerin und Publizistin Schneider überlebte das Rigaer Ghetto sowie die Konzentrationslager Kaiserwald und Stutthof, in ihrem Buch Reise in den Tod: deutsche Juden in Riga 1941-1944 schrieb sie auch über ihre Begegnung mit Maria ?Mary? Korwill. Im März 1942 wurde Mary Korwill von einem Nazi-Kommandanten erschossen. - Von 1938-1945 befand sich unter der Adresse des Kinderheimes (Wien 9., Roßauer Lände 29) der Sitz der NSDAP-Ortsgruppe Spittelau. Sonst gibt es kaum Information zum Kinderheim, etwas mehr findet sich zum zugehörigen Sommer-Sonnenheim in der Villa Vetsera. Die Villa Vetsera wurde 1935 von der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde Wien erworben, unter dem Titel ?Jüdische Kinder aufs Land? wurden dort in den Jahren vor dem Beginn der NS-Herrschaft jährlich bis zu 4000 Kinder versorgt. 1939 wurde das Anwesen zwangsenteignet und von der Nationalsozialistischen Volkswohlfahrt Berlin genutzt, 1945 gelangte es an die Republik Österreich und 1952 an die IKG Wien restituiert. - Die Identität der Künstlerin Edith Stern lässt sich nicht vollends klären, womöglich handelt es sich um die am 10.12.1905 in Wien geborene Textilmalerin Edith Eisenstädter (geboren Stern). 1938 gelang ihr die Flucht aus Wien nach Belgien, 1942 wurde sie dort jedoch festgenommen und mit dem Transport XI aus der Kaserne Dossin (Malines-Mechelen) nach Auschwitz deportiert und ermordet. - Da es sich um Entwurfszeichnungen handelt, weisen alle Blätter Gebrauchsspuren wie Faltlinien, Fingerflecken, Anstreichungen in Blei, handschr. Notizen auf der Rückseite. Alle Blätter sind aber in gutem Zustand! 1000 gr.
