In Good condition, marred by tape residue and staining to the edges of the paste-downs, otherwise the book is clean and unmarked internally and the boards are unusually bright and clean.…

John Stericker's "pre-war assignment to China on the management of large British-owned cigarette factories forms the basis of this book. He looks back with nostalgia on the China that expatriates loved so well, and from the time he stepped on to the Trans-Siberian Express to the moment he entered a Japanese internment camp in Hongkong he travelled with a suitcase and a chuckle. He admits that things were not always amusing, but even internment had its funny side as the second half of this book discloses, although tragedy, too, is not spared us.".…
