Dafür fotografiert er meistens nachts, wenn sich die Welt von einer suggestiven, zweideutigen Seite zeigt. Sein Fotoprojekt, ausgezeichnet mit dem Leica Oskar Barnack Preis 2012, ist das Ergebnis einer monatelangen Reise durch Florida. Die hell erleuchteten Wohnmobile kauern versteckt zwischen den Bäumen. Es herrscht eine düstere Stimmung, die den Anschein von Flucht, Heimlichkeit, Isolation und Angst vermittelt. Die Bilder erscheinen inszeniert und konstruiert, sind es jedoch nicht. Die Bewohner der Fahrzeuge sind nie zu sehen - die Anwesenheit des Fotografen haben sie nicht bemerkt. Denn sie befinden sich im Schutz ihrer luxuriösen Behausungen, sehen in der Regel fern, Licht und Klimaanlage sind angeschaltet - in dem Glauben, trotz allem mit der Natur im Einklang zu sein.Die Arbeiten von Frank Hallam Day wurden in vielen internationalen Ausstellungen gezeigt und gehören zum Bestand zahlreicher Museen und privater Sammlungen. Day hat bereits zahlreiche Preise und Stipendien gewonnen.
