In den WarenkorbTrade paperback. Zustand: Very good. 112 pages. Illustrations. Cover has slight wear and soiling. This is the Premiere Issue under this title. Rare. It was formerly The Minneapolis Review of Baseball. The Elysian Fields were the grounds in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the old Knickerbocker Base Ball Club developed the game of baseball and played the first match game according to Knickerbocker Rules (the New York game) on June 19, 1846. The purpose and philosophy of the Elysian Fields Quarterly is grounded in an appreciation of baseball as a central mythology of American culture. It wishes to explore in print, via essay, history, fiction, scholarship, editorial, poetry, and the graphic arts, the unifying romance of baseball as it connects us with our larger heritage and the natural cycles of generation. Elysian Fields Quarterly (EFQ) was a literary baseball journal of "writing on baseball from the fan's perspective". It featured articles on baseball history and lore. EFQ was founded as The Minneapolis Review of Baseball. It began publication under its current title in 1992. EFQ was published briefly in 1992-1993 by William C. Brown Company of Dubuque, but devolved to its original 'self-published' status . EFQ ceased in 1995 due to financial difficulties, but was resurrected by Lehman and another in 1998, at the urging of its publisher, Tom Goldstein. EFQ had favorable reviews by the Utne Reader as well as NPR. In 2008, Goldstein announced that the publication would be on hiatus during the 2009 season. He added that if EFQ "cannot expand on its narrow base to build a cult-like following . there seems little point in trying to re-start the journal a year from now." As of 2012, the announcement remains on its website. Premiere Issue [stated]. Hot Stove Issue [stated].…
