All with the red BI logo, printed details and conditions in English, ms entries, revenue stamps, ink stamped terms and disclaimers, and… signatures on behalf of Agents Mackinnon Mackenzie Co. Fair to good, folded, tanned, hole punched with a little impact on content, wear to edges with minor loss, and tape repairs to 3 of them. BI had become the world's largest merchant fleet by 1922 with 158 ships. Their main routes from India were to the Persian Gulf, East and South Africa, Ceylon, Singapore, Malaya, Java, Thailand and Japan. In wartime, their ships were requisitioned by the military. Each of these shipments was sent by A. Hirachand in Bombay to various recipients in Dar es Salaam on the Tanganyika Territory coast opposite Zanzibar on 15/4/25, 22/11/27, 20/12/27, 16/1/28 and 13/2/28, aboard the Karoa or Karapala. All with the red BI logo, printed details and conditions in English, ms entries, revenue stamps, ink stamped terms and disclaimers, an…d signatures on behalf of Agents Mackinnon Mackenzie Co. Fair to good, folded, tanned, hole punched with a little impact on content, wear to edges with minor loss, and archival tape repairs along folds to two of them. BI had become the world's largest merchant fleet by 1922 with 158 ships. Their main routes from India were to the Persian Gulf, East and South Africa, Ceylon, Singapore, Malaya, Java, Thailand and Japan. In wartime, their ships were requisitioned by the military. Each of these shipments was sent by A. Hirachand in Bombay to various recipients in Zanzibar on 11/4/25, 15/4/25, 14/2/28 (x2), and 17/7/28, aboard the Karagola or Karapara. They were in service 1917-48 and 1915-50 respectively, with the Karagola serving as an Expeditionary Force transporter, and the Karapala a hospital ship during WW1. (Reference: P&O Heritage website).
