Ex university library with one stamp on title page and a couple cancel marks. No marks to plates or interiors. First edition with 12 large plates 2 folding maps and 3 text engravings. No water marks some scattered foxing but mostly in the 63 text pages. Text block solid. Some great plates and some are Japan paper proofs.…

Ink name on pastedown "Edward Balston Eton 1844". Edward Balston, 1817-1891, attended Eton, in 1840 became an assistant master and its headmaster in 1862.
