Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. An excellent copy of the first edition of St Clair Stobart's fascinating work on the sources and originators of Spiritualism. Mabel Annie St Clair Stobart was an extraordinary character, known equally for her aid work, her commitment to the Suffragette movement, and her writing on Spiritualism and related themes. Pages in this copy are very good: bright and clean, the very occasional fox spot, and a brief signature on front FEP from 1949, along with a little nibbling on that one page only. Plate facing title page is present, tightly inserted and clean (see photo). Text block is lovely and clean, just a couple of minor white spots at top block and a few on front board at top but barely noticeable. Binding is tight. Boards are very good: there odd very minor sign of age but spine is good and gilt letters very bold. Minor crimping to corners but this is by far the best condition in which we have seen this edition. See photos, all of which are of the copy for sale, we don't use stock photos.
