Splendidly illustrated throughout with 20 duo-tone photogravures of movie stills, this work contains the music score of "Kluci na ?ece" (Boys on the River), a 1944 Czech movie telling the story of a group of boys determined to explore a 'mysterious' mansion located on the banks of the Otava River. Inside, they will encounter an old lady with her granddaughter. Premiered in August 1944, during the difficult period of the Protectorate, the movie and its score became a smashing hit, and a way for the Czechs to escape their miseries, at least for an hour and a half. The movie was directed by Vaclav Krska and Jiri Slavicek, and the film score was composed by Czech composer Jiri Srnka. Minor closed tears and tiny chipping at head and tail of spine. Moderate age-toning along edges of wrappers. Text in Czech. Small scuff to the top left corner of photograph on page 3. Wrappers in overall good+, interior in very good condition.
