Mat burn, toning, two registration pin holes and closed 1/2 inch tear lower left, otherwise in very good condition. Artist's initials in the plate. Signed and titled in pencil. Inscribed "Ed. 45." Modernist masterpiece by Spruance. Benton Murdoch Spruance (1904-1967) was an American painter, printmaker and architect. Chair of the Arts Department at Beaver College in Glenside, Pennsylvania, he subsequently chaired the Printmaking Department of the Philadelphia College of Art. Printed by master lithographer, Theodore H. Cuno. In the collection of the Met, Whitney, and PAFA. This is a wonderful example of his work.
