Zustand: Very good in very good jacket. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: dj. First printing. Signed first hardcover trade edition, and first UK edition, of this adaptation of the classic horror movie. Your humble cataloguer first saw this movie in 1982, when it was briefly re-released in theaters for the Halloween season (in the dawning days of video rental). A mere lad of 10, I was probably too young to be watching this suburban horror. But I'd been out of school for a week with a mysterious rash and my father - likely encouraged erroneously by the family-friendly name "Spielberg" - took pity upon me and brought me to see a late afternoon matinee at the now-defunct Seaview Square Cinema. We emerged into the darkness of evening and it wasn't until we got home, my mother screaming when she saw me, that we realized that the stress of the film had apparently caused my rash to creep up the entire right side of my face. I didn't care. Though I didn't sleep that night (nervously eyeing the closet, trying not to think of the trees outside), the movie - which depicted a family, house, and neighborhood like mine - touched something elemental in me. I know none of this will help sell this book, but it is what comes immediately whenever I think (affectionately) about POLTERGEIST. And maybe I'll just keep the book anyway. The movie remains not only one of my favorites of all time, but one of the best horror films ever made - perfectly capturing (the terror of) the middle class 1980s, of which I was duly a part. 8.25'' x 5.25''. Original black textured boards. In original unclipped (no price, as issued)color pictorial jacket. 224 pages. Signed by Kahn on the title page. Some mild foxing, spotting to text-block edges. Additional foxing to verso of jacket (only). Touches of shelfwear, rubbing. Overall, sound. Signed.
