John Smith Soden (1780-1863), "prominent surgeon and accoucheur, of 101 Sydn…ey Place, Bath, was one of the original members of the British Medical Association as well as among the first three hundred Fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons. Trained in Birmingham, he was an army surgeon from 1800 to 1803, when he resigned and moved to London.
