Born in 1850 in Copenhagen, he c…ame to America in 1873 and launched himself into a career as a marine painter. The checklist of his paintings and sketches numbers over 4000 entries. The works listed represent some 2600 of the steam and sailing vessels which frequented New York harbor between 1873 and 1919. A very good copy with light wear.
