Different uses of water are inter-dependent thus the key issue is integrated water resources management which is essential in the present scenario. On our earth, of water is spread as sea 97% and freshwater 3% of the total freshwater 87% is not accessible to us remaining 3% accessible to us our of which 0.4% for human consumption. The fact and figures show that in developing countries there is acute water crisis both quality and quantity wise. Water shortage in over 40 countries of the world is faced by 2 billion people. Half the population of developing world is affected by water pollution problem leading to suffering from diseases. The projections show that increase in population from 6 billion to 9 billion, will be the main thrust for water resources management for the next 50 years. In India, improper disposal of domestic and industrial waste is the main cause for pollution of lakes, wet lands and rivers. Therefore optimal sustainable use of water, abatement of pollution, conservation of biodiversity in aquatic ecosystem including village ponds, hill stream, rivers, etc. are of paramount importance. This required nation wise efforts of scientists, scholars, social organization, fisheries and aquaculture project managers, administrators and policy makers for making honest efforts in planning and operationalisation of integrated water resources management. It is with this aim papers from eminent scholars, scientists, researchers, teachers and students were invited and compiled in the present book. We hope that these will be of immense support in the water resource management in the country.
