Hardcover. 634pp. Octavo [26 cm] Green cloth covered boards. Fair condition only. The front cover is only holding on to the binding by just a little cloth. The cloth on the covers is very heavily rubbed and frayed. The extremities are also a little bit stained. There are 1/2 inch deep losses from the cloth at the ends of the spine. The underlying boards are exposed along the edges. The endsheets are split along the hinges, the front hinge is broken, and the text block is pulling away from the spine. There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front pastedown. The text block is cracked a couple of times. The pages are browned, and have very occasional small stains. As is. Hardcover. Original edition. 299pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Dark brown pebbled cloth covered boards. Good. The covers are rubbed and slightly moisture stained. The underlying boards are exposed along the edges. There is a 1/4 inch loss from the cloth at the head of the spine, and there is a 1/2 inch loss from the cloth at the foot of the spine. The hinges are weak. There are several splits in the endsheets along the hinges. The longest split measures 2 and 1/2 inches. The endsheets are lightly soiled. Rear board with some dampstaining (most prominent dampstain measures 2" tall by 1" wide). Text block has dropped, but is still holding to boards. Endpapers cracked along the hinges and the hinges are going. Flake 7761. With a chronology, sections on Utah mining, railroads, immigration, and temples and churches, as well as a sketch of Mormonism pp. 205-218.…

Hardcover. First edition. 634pp. Octavo [26 cm] Green cloth with title (very faint) on backstrip. Large fold-out map present at the front. Good plus. The extremities are rubbed, the boards are a bit bowed, and the fore edge corners of the covers are gently bumped. The cloth at the spine ends is chipped with loss, and it is a bit frayed at the edges, occasionally exposing the underlying boards. There is a deep gouge in the surface of the backstrip which is 1/4" wide by 1/2" tall. There are multiple cracks in the endsheets along the hinges (the longest crack measuring 3 inches), and there is a small label from the Juvenile Instructor Publishing House on the front pastedown. The pages are tanned, and the pages at the end are a bit rippled. There is a 2" closed tear in the fold out chart at p. 300. The book is very sturdy.
