In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. 2 ppage. One sheet 13 by 8 inches printed both sides in green type, one side in English and the other side in Italian. . 2 fold marks o/w very good. Rare ephemera from the early days of internment on Manx, there was also a version in German. All were by S. W. Slatter, Lieutenant Ð Colonel, the Comm…andant of the Isle of Man Internment Camps. The Italian side has about 40 Italian signatures as if Italian internees had signed it to show they had read it (ie there are no greetings or sentiments.) Among the deciphearble names are Orazio Mancini, G. Calligaro, A Crolla, A. Farina,G. Petri, L Garparini, D. Mantessi. The memorandum/ letter assures internees that nothing would be done that might add to their discomfort or unhappiness and it assures them of justice. Not much known about this except this found at Wix: 'One small glimmer of hope that may have gone some way to sweeten the bitter pill and provide some comfort to anxious internees as to what would befall them, came in the form of a letter, which was addressed "To The Internees of The Isle of Man", from S. W. Slatter, Lieutenant Ð Colonel, the Commandant of the Isle of Man Internment Camps. It offered some words of support, encouragement and advice: ÒIt is my wish that every man who enters internment on this Island shall be assured that nothing avoidable will be done that might add to his discomfort or unhappinessÓ. ÒThere will be no aggressionÓ and Òthe officers and troops who are given charge of you are men of understandingÓ.
