Migration is a natural outcome when society faces a shortage of resources or opportunities. While migration in India has been studied extensively, these discussions often do not include one of the most important stakeholders involved-young people. Youth constitute a valuable human capital resource base for India, and migration of young people has become more frequent as a result of neoliberal policies, coupled with social, political, economic and demographic conditions. Youth Migration in Emerging India focuses on this challenging and neglected aspect of Indian society. Although marriage-based migration dominates youth migration in India, this volume focuses on the significance of education and employment-related migration through the lens of the youth. Relying on primary data collected from the field and secondary data from sources like the Census of India and National Sample Survey Office, the authors analyse the causes of youth migration and its impacts on the Indian economy. Young people opt for migration to improve their economic prospects, and the demand for skilled youth is growing. In this context, young people themselves become a pull factor for migration, as the remittances they send home improve both their economic prospects and the Indian economy. The book focuses on several aspects of youth migration, ranging from distress migration to Indian cities for survival to the voluntary move made by affluent, urban Indians for higher education abroad. Also studied are the latest National Youth Policies of the government, which identifies migrant youth as a target group. An important contribution to the area of youth and migration studies, this volume will be useful to students and scholars of migration studies, development studies, public policy and planning and policy think tanks.

The Tamil Nadu Migration Survey (TMS) 2015 and Kerala Migration Survey (KMS) 2014: A Comparative Analysis. Summary and Conclusions. Bibliography. Index. Tamil Nadu has, throughout history, received large numbers of in-migrants, many of whom subsequently became part of Tamil society. Equally, the Tamil region has had a long tradition of out-migration, including international migration as indentured labour on colonial plantations. However, unlike its neighbouring state of Kerala, there is a dearth of comprehensive studies, as well as reliable databases, on migration from Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Migration Survey 2015 provided significant insights for the first time into the state s migration flows based on 20,000 households. In the first study of its kind, Tamil Migrants highlights the survey data and provides new data on internal and international migration from Tamil Nadu by combining analyses of demographic, social and economic factors. The themes explored in the book are diverse, ranging from the demography of Tamil Nadu, its migration history, current migration patterns and their implications, to internal and international migration. The chapters discuss all aspects of migration in Tamil Nadu, including types of migration, cost of financing and remittances, the crucial impact of migration on employment, human development, and the elderly, and an analysis of the experiences of return migrants, their families and the community. Through interpretations of Census and large-scale survey data, the authors also put forward recommendations on inter-state migration policies and development outcomes.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Plant Biochemistry is a relatively applied science, but its rate of growth has been truly impressive. The rapid pace of discoveries, which shows sign of blooming and is reflected in the steady increase in the knowledge of Biochemistry. This book has been written to meet the needs of students for biochemistry courses at various levels of undergraduate and post graduate studies. This book covers the scope and sequence requirements for semester course to non-majors students. The book presents the core concepts of biochemistry with a focus on applications in plant science. The pedagogical features of the text make the material interesting and accessible while maintaining the career-application focus and scientific rigor inherent in the subject matter. This book enhances students' understanding of concepts through clear and effective illustrations, diagrams and photographs. A grasp of the logic and practice of plant science is essential to understand the rest of the world around us. To that end, this book remains focused on experimental support for what we know about plant biochemistry, and on showing students about the relationship of macromolecules and function. Rather than trying to be a comprehensive reference book, it selectively details investigative questions and methods that lead to our understanding of plant biology. It focus is on more obvious in learning objectives of scientific thought in agricultural and pharmacological problems. All units of plant biochemistry are having been meticulously revised and able bodied in the most recent scientific information. We assure that this book would be useful to undergraduate students in all aspects as a basic tool. This book has been written based on the UG syllabus of ICAR, SAUs and TNAU. This book also serves as a guide for the students who are preparing for competitive examinations like ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF UGC-NET, JNU and CSIR. Constructive suggestions of scholars, students and teachers are invited for further improvement of this book.
